Beavers,Cubs and Scouts

Report for 2022

It’s been another busy year for 1st Coven Scout Group with lots of new young members welcomed into our scouting family.

We’ve had a great year with a Beaver camp and a Cub camp at Patsull Scout Camp where the young members have the opportunity to explore the site, play outdoors and learn lots of new skills. The Scout camp was at Beaudesert where they had the chance to partake in the more adventurous activities including Verre Veratti and abseiling. This experience pushed young members out of their comfort zone and they showed great perseverance and determination as well as having great fun. We held our annual Whole group Camp at Patsull again in the summer. This is always an amazing experience and it is always lovely to watch all the sections and adult members working together as a family with the most unlikely friendships being discovered.

Beavers have completed badges including the Health and Fitness Activity Badge, Camp Craft Activity badge, Team Work and Outdoors Challenge badges along with their You Shape Award.

Cubs have completed Badges including Money Skills Activity Badge, Emergency Aid Staged Badge, The You Shape Award and Adventure and Outdoors Challenge Badges.

Scouts have completed badges including their craft Activity badge, Emergency Aid and Digital Citizen Stages Badges, The You Shape Award and Skills and team leader Challenge badges.

We have many young members  achieved their Chief Scout Award which is the highest award that a scout earns in each section.

We attended the remembrance Service at St. Paul’s which is always a proud moment for all, especially those chosen to carry the banners. Our Young leader Tom also read in the 9 lessons and Carols service  at Christmas.

!st Coven are moving premises again from March to the Memorial Hall for several reasons including the safety of the children at drop off and pick up, along with opportunities for more experiences for our young members with access to the kitchen and grassed area. We hope to become a valued member of the letting community there and our scouting skills be put to use for the benefit of those who use the hall.

We would like to thank Pauline and the PCC for always being supportive of our Scout Group and for everything they have done this year to help us. We look forward to supporting the church at community events again in the coming year.
